A customer tried to save costs by replacing a horizontal centrifugal pump with a cheap unit from a small factory. The new pump's nameplate clearly stated: 50 meters of head, 200 m³/h flow rate. But after installation, the water simply couldn't reach its destination, and the production line had to run at reduced capacity.
After taking it down for testing, they found the truth — the pump's actual head at the rated flow was only 32 meters. The so-called "50 meters" was the shut-off head (at zero flow), which can never be used as a basis for selection.
This isn't bad luck. It's an open secret in the industry — parameter misrepresentation.
In some small pump manufacturing hubs, certain low-cost factories have a common trick: alter the nameplate. A pump with an actual head of just 15 meters is labeled and sold as 30 meters. When you start it, the motor hums, but the water barely moves. You end up thinking you connected the pipes wrong.
What's worse, to try and achieve the bogus numbers on the nameplate, these fake-rated pumps often force the motor to run at overspeed. The result: the head isn't reached, and the motor burns out first. Hundreds or thousands of dollars are wasted, and you lose the critical window for irrigation or construction.
The standard of a truly good pump: the nameplate is a promise, but real-world testing is the bottom line.
At Bangpu, every piece of equipment is physically tested on our test stand before leaving the factory. We record multiple performance parameters like head and flow rate at various points. Our high-flow, high-head equipment can be precisely tested.
Only after the equipment meets all performance standards and passes testing does it proceed to subsequent steps like painting and shipping.
Therefore, when selecting a pump, you must prioritize "performance authenticity" as highly as "procurement cost." A pump with falsified parameters will cause production losses, acceptance inspection risks, and maintenance/repair costs that far exceed the small amount you thought you saved. Choose a brand manufacturer with a professional test stand and a commitment to real-world testing before shipment — ensuring every piece of equipment you receive can withstand on-site challenges and operate reliably, serving your production needs.
