【Delivering Warmth to Homes】 Bangpu Double-Suction Pumps Efficiently Put into Operation at Fulaerji Thermal Power Plant

Project Background

Located on the Nenjiang Plain in Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, the annual average temperature is 3.37°C, with January averaging -16.8°C.

During the long, harsh winters, stable and sufficient heating is not only essential for daily life but also a lifeline for the city’s operations. With ongoing urbanization and rising living standards, the demand for winter heating in Qiqihar continues to grow.

Project Details

In the Fulaerji District of Qiqihar City, the actual heating area during the 2023–2024 heating season reached 8.84 million square meters, with a total heating load of 468.52 MW, revealing a significant supply-demand gap. To meet public needs and enhance heating capacity, the Fulaerji Thermal Power Plant launched a new 2×60 MW electric boiler project.

At the heart of this new system, responsible for circulation and pressurization, is Bangpu’s BPO(L) series horizontal split-case volute-type single-stage double-suction centrifugal pump, providing efficient and reliable fluid transport for the system. The operation of the new electric boiler enables the decoupling of power and heat production, significantly improving the heating peaking capacity of the thermal power unit during the heating season.

The "Circulating Heart"

The five double-suction pumps supplied by Bangpu act as the "circulating heart" of the system, undertaking the core task of providing circulation power and pressurization for the entire heating network.

Designed for high-temperature, high-flow conditions, these pumps feature two key advantages:

The project utilizes Bangpu’s BPO series horizontal split-case volute-type double-suction centrifugal pumps. The 710 kW heat storage booster pump achieves a single-pump flow rate exceeding 1,000 m³/h, operating stably under inlet water temperatures as high as 100°C, ensuring efficient, high-flow delivery to meet stringent high-temperature water circulation requirements. The secondary-side circulation pumps are configured in a two-operation-one-standby mode, capable of continuous operation at 65–70°C, ensuring system reliability under various conditions.
Equipped with a variable frequency drive control system, the pumps intelligently adjust speed and output power based on actual heating load, enabling precise flow control, significantly reducing operational energy consumption, and achieving energy-saving goals.

Currently, these five high-performance double-suction pumps have completed installation and commissioning, officially entering operation. They are now efficiently and stably delivering a continuous flow of heat to homes across Fulaerji District and beyond in Qiqihar City.
